We caught up with assistant manger, Steve Garnett ahead of Tuesdays game.

With the FA Vase around the corner and the league set to kick off in October, the Saints continue their preparation on Tuesday night at The Park Hall Stadium against a young Altrincham side.

We caught up with Assistant Manager, Steve Garnett ahead of the fixture...

The league fixtures are finally out, what’s your thoughts?

Finally some light at the end of tunnel....

Despite having the longest pre season in our clubs history we can’t wait to start and get back into competitive action competing against some fantastic teams in a very strong division.

We’re quite happy with the opening fixtures on paper but there’s no easy games in this league so we’ll have to be focused and ready come the 3rd October!

How has pre-season gone so far?

Pre-season has been a longer one than normal due to these unique times we’re all living in. We began on June 20th and it’s gone exceptionally well.... The Gaffer and myself have really tested the lads and they’ve reacted brilliantly with whatever we’ve asked of them. It’s a good group, good characters with plenty of quality. We’re all eager for the new season to begin achieving positive results our hard work deserves.

A good test on Tuesday night against Altrincham Reserves, how was preparation gone for it? Anything you want to achieve from it?

Yes a tough game awaits against a young, hungry and energetic Altrincham side. We always demand a strong performance and I’m sure the lads will deliver. It also gives us a chance to look at a couple of new players and tactical ideas.

We’re delighted they accepted the friendly game in what should be a good spectacle especially in our first appearance at the Park Hall Stadium this term. We hope to have a good turnout of people who have yet to watch St Martins FC or anyone who is after a football fix Tuesday evening.

Are you looking forward to the FA Vase game next weekend?

100%, can’t wait. This club has yet to win an FA Vase fixture. We all want to create a small piece of history by achieving just that. We would love a victory on the 19th for the committee and for everyone who is associated with this brilliant football club.

We can FINALLY welcome supporters back to The Park Hall Stadium on Tuesday night, so get yourself down to Park Hall for a 7:45pm kick off and support the Saints for the first time this season!
